About the Lecture Series

The biennial Bible Translation Conference is dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of Bible Translation. The Conference strives to promote engagement from a variety of perspectives and to foster a respectful environment that rejects all forms of discrimination and harassment

The plenary lecture format is to bring together the full group of conference participants to experience an academic lecture on one perspective of the conference theme.

The purpose of the Beekman Lectures is to stimulate and challenge the BT Conference participants with a plenary series of lectures by a leading scholar and BT practitioner on fresh and cutting-edge perspectives in the field of BT.

John Beekman was SIL’s first Translation Consultant, the first to lead translation workshops, and SIL’s first International Translation Coordinator.
